Fatima Secrets Revealed

The story of the Fatima Apparitions, as they have been approved by the Catholic Church, can be found in a book called In Lucia’s Own Words. It is a collection of Lucia’s writings which were both prompted and approved by the Catholic clergy. These are the three secrets revealed to the children at the Cova da Iria as written by Lucia.

The Vision Of Hell
Our Lady showed us a great sea of fire which seemed to be under the Earth. Plunged in this fire were demons and souls in human form, like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, floating about in the conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames that issued from within themselves together with great clouds of smoke, now falling back on every side like sparks in a huge flame, without weight or equilibrium, and amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fear. The demons could be distinguished by their terrifying and repulsive likeness to frightful and unknown animals, all black and transparent. This vision lasted but an instant. How can we ever be grateful enough to our kind heavenly Mother, who had already prepared us by promising, in the first Apparition, to take us to heaven? Otherwise, I think we would have died of fear and terror[1].

Lucia grew up at a time when the orthodox views of heaven and hell were still intact. She has continued to maintain her allegiance to church doctrines and authority. The description of hell contained in her memoirs corresponds to the traditional portrayals of hell and purgatory which have been a part of the Catholic faith for nearly fifteen-hundred years. Because Lucia’s writings have been approved and released by the church, they would have to comply with Catholic doctrines.
None of the messages received in conjunction with secrets after 1961 have been approved. None of the visionaries who have received this information have become priests or nuns. All of them were raised in the Catholic faith. All of them have made a great effort to work within church guidelines. All of them have seen the vision of hell. None of them describe what they saw as a realm under the Earth. Instead, they saw it as a condition on the surface of the planet.
If what Lucia saw was actually the same thing, then what she calls “demons” could have been burning “animals” being thrown up into the air in a sea of flames. If the Earth was hit by a celestial object, there would be bodies of all kinds, animal and human, burned, twisted and distorted beyond recognition as they were thrown about in a global conflagration.
The Unknown Light
You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end: but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the Pontificate of Pius XI. When you see a night illuminated by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that he is about to punish the world for it’s crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world[2].
“The war is going to end,” was a reference to the conclusion of World War I. Mary’s appearance in Fatima at the height of the first global confrontation was another part of the picture. Of particular interest, is how this war was ended. History books tell of the Allies defeating the Central Powers on the battle field. However, according to some analysts, the war was really forced to a halt by the Spanish Influenza; the same disease that took the lives of Francisco and Hacinta.
Millions of soldiers on both sides of the conflict either died, or were too ill to fight.[3] The fighting took the lives of 8.5 million in the military. Ten million civilians were also killed in the conflict. Twenty million people died of the influenza in the final year of the war. No number has been recorded for the millions more who were bedridden. The disease was called the Spanish Influenza because it was believed to have started in Spain. It’s true origins it could easily have been from Portugal.
Researches are still trying to unravel the nature of the virus that caused it. At the time of the outbreak, doctors and scientists were completely baffled. There was nothing they could do to stop it. There was never any vaccine developed to stem the tide of death. It was first detected in January of 1918. It ended just as mysteriously as it began when the war concluded in November of the same year.[4]
Mary may have unleashed the Spanish Influenza through the two children in Fatima. This was the way She ended the First World War. Still, man did not stop “offending God” and World War II began during the reign “of Pius XI (1922-1939).” If Mary is giving Her predictions in chronological order, then after World War II, “when you see a night illuminated by an unknown light” a period of greater tribulations will begin. “This is the great sign given you by God that He is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine and persecutions of the church and of the Holy Father.”
At the end of the current age, divine intervention will end a great war. The only difference between the First World War and the Last World War will be the number of people involved. Both World Wars I and II have been previews of what is to come. The final battle will include all of the elements of the first two; disease, pestilence, nuclear weapons and a final great explosion near Japan. More people will die as the result of this conflict and its ultimate conclusion than the sum of all those killed in every previous war put together.
Mary asked for the “conversion of Russia” in the 1990’s, in an effort to prevent the initiation of a World War III before the “unknown light” is seen. In Her early messages, She would sometimes say, that the punishment by God could be avoided with increased devotion. Now it appears as though all hope of avoiding the tribulations is gone. If so, then “a period of peace” was all that could be hoped for in the “conversion of Russia.”
Mary has never altered Her messages with regard to the significance of the “unknown light.” From the beginning, She has associated it with a Final Warning. Neither has She wavered from the inevitability of a Great Chastisement. Although some of the tribulations might be mitigated, they cannot be entirely avoided. The punishment must then be inevitable. If the prophecies of the Bible about the coming of the Anointed One are to be fulfilled then all of these things must happen to one degree or another.

The Secret For The Pope
I write in obedience to you, my God, who commands me to do so through his Excellency the Bishop of Leiria and through your Most Holy Mother and mine. After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him form her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: ‘Penance, Penance, Penance!’. And we saw in an immense light that is God: ‘something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it’ a Bishop dressed in White ‘we had the impression that it was the Holy Father’. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him and in the same way there died one after another of the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God[5].

The angel with the “sword of flames” is usually associated with Michael the Archangel. Michael is in essence the Hand of God. It is he who will unleash the purification in the form of a rain of fire and brimstone to “set the world on fire.” The crucifixion was an expression of this kind of energy. Those who feed on the ideals that condemned Jesus to the cross will end up being martyrs. They will be consumed by the fire of the “sword” of self-righteousness.
The Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Jesus can mitigate certain circumstances. Mary stopped Michael from carrying out a “penance” upon the world before now. However, a balance between dark and light has to be maintained. God has seen fit to let the punishment be carried out. Therefore, Mary showed Lucia the final hours of the Church.
When the Vatican finally saw fit to release the third secret in the early part of the year 2000, they included an interpretation. They deemed the death of the “Holy Father” to be a depiction of the attempt to assassinate Pope John Paul II in 1981. How they arrived at this understanding is a great a mystery. Nothing Lucia describes fits anything John Paul II was doing at the time he was shot. He was not walking up a “steep mountain.” He was not killed by a hail of “bullets and arrows.” He was not walking through “a big city half in ruins.” No other “Bishops” or “lay people” were killed by “soldiers.”
What Lucia was shown must have been the annihilation of what is left of the Vatican in the days just before “the punishment of the world.” The scene does not take place in Rome. The pope is not supposed to be there when the end comes. Somewhere in Europe, near “a big city,” there must be a “steep mountain” with a “rough hewn” cross on “the top” of it. A likely spot would be somewhere in France.
The last pope will be in hiding there during the last days before the Chastisement. At some point, he will emerge. He will bless the dead and dying as he walks through the city and up a steep hill followed by “other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious.” They will all be killed by the mobs and the invading soldiers.
